A UTAH MAN -- WHO NEARLY LOST HIS LIFE, IN AFGHANISTAN, THREE YEARS AGO -- HAS BEEN HONORED THIS WEEK, WITH THE PRESTIGIOUS PURPLE HEART AWARD.

ARMY SPECIALIST JAMES McCLOY -- OF WEST JORDAN -- WAS RIDING WITH THREE OTHER SOLDIERS, WHEN THEIR VEHICLE STRUCK A ROADSIDE BOMB... SEVERELY INJURING ALL OF THEM.

MILITARY BRASS SAY McCLOY WAS THE FIRST OF THE FOUR TO REGAIN CONSCIOUSNESS... AND WORKED HEROICALLY, TO AID HIS COMPANIONS.

THE PURPLE HEART IS A DESTINGUISHED HONOR, RESERVED ONLY FOR SOLDIERS WOUNDED IN COMBAT.

McCLOY CONTINUES TO RECEIVE MEDICAL CARE FOR THE INJURIES HE SUFFERED, IN MARCH 2011.
