New Direction – Artistic Directors – Caleb Chapman (29 time winner of Best in State medals – including two Best Music Educator awards),  Derryl Yeager (Founder and Artistic Director of Odyssey Dance Theater – winner of 12 consecutive Best of State Dance Company Awards), and newly appointed Theater Artistic Director James Mack (BYU MDT Graduate and Professional Actor) are excited to announce a new program at Pioneer- they will be creating two new arts educational tracks at the school – a Conservatory Track which will be an advanced college level curriculum for students who already have a high level of competency in their art and a Foundations Track for students who have not had prior training which will give them a broad overview of Music, Dance, and Theater as they discover their arts talent and focus.

Caleb Chapman’s Music Academy

PHS Conservatory Music Program will be a college level curriculum offering specialty classes not offered anywhere else on a secondary level. PHS Music is committed to being the leading contemporary commercial music program in the nation!

Music Conservatory Auditions:  June 6th - 10am - 2pm - at Caleb Chapman’s SoundHouse - 555 E Main St Ste A  American Fork, UT 84003 – Studio 6

(Auditionees should prepare two contrasting musical selections on your preferred instrument or voice)

James Mack’s Theater and Musical Theater Academies

PHS Conservatory Theatre and Musical Theatre Programs offer two distinct, advanced actor training options for gifted students with professional aspirations in theatrical performance. Both programs have been designed to provide students with the requisite skills, discipline, and experiences to be optimally positioned for career success in theatre arts.

Drama Conservatory Auditions:  June 6th - 10am - 2pm - at Caleb Chapman’s SoundHouse - 555 E Main St Ste A  American Fork, UT 84003 – Studio 2

(Auditionees should prepare two contrasting 2 minute monologues)

Musical Theater Conservatory Auditions – 2 Parts:

Part 1 - June 6th - 10 am - 2 pm - at Caleb Chapman’s SoundHouse - 555 E Main St Ste A  American Fork, UT 84003  (Auditionees should prepare one 2-minute monologue and two contrasting 16-Bar vocal selections - bring tracks to sing with)

Part 2 - Dance Call  - June 7th - 4-6 pm - Aspire Dance Academy – 55 N. 1400 W. Lindon, UT  84062  (Auditionees will need to be there the entire time and will be taught combinations and evaluated in Ballet, Jazz and Tap dance styles)

Derryl Yeager’s Dance Academy

PHS Conservatory Dance Academy is an intermediate/advanced level Juilliard style program that provides training in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Ballroom and Contemporary Dance. The training is designed to provide students with all the tools necessary to become a professional dancer.

 

Dance Conservatory Auditions:   June 6th – 2-8 pm - Aspire Dance Academy – 55 N. 1400 W. Lindon, UT  84062  (Dancers should plan on being there for the entire time - they will first be taught a Ballet combination – Pointe Work will be evaluated but not required.   Dancers will then be taught combinations in Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop and Contemporary Styles.   Dancers should bring a picture and resume and appropriate dance clothes and shoes for each style)

New Campus - Pioneer High School for the Performing Arts is also excited to annouce the creation of it’s new Campus in American Fork.  Now being able to house its academics and arts programs under one roof, this new campus – dubbed the American Fork Center for the Performing Arts will be located at 345 South 500 East and will contain 15,000 square feet complete with a commercial film studio and state of the art Black Box Theater! 

Derryl Yeager, Founding Board member and honorary PHS Board Chair is thrilled to announce this new beginning for Pioneer High School for the Performing Arts!  - “This is the fulfillment of a life-long dream – to create a Juilliard of the West here in Utah!”

New Excellence – PHS Academics:  Gil Jarvie – Pioneer’s new principal and executive director has reaffirmed PHS’s commitment to a quality educational experience for each student. This will be accomplished by meeting the State of Utah subject requirements, while also preparing our students for an effective post-high school life. Whether it is a professional career or entrance into an institution of higher learning, Mr. Jarvie promises PHS students will advance with confidence and the relevant experience required for success.
