New Mine Shaft Searches in the Susan Powell Case

Susan Powell went missing in 2009 and during the search for her, many mine shafts in Utah’s west desert were searched.  A tip came into the Utah Cold Case Coalition that indicated that some of the mine shafts may not have been searched.

“Some folks reached out to us with information to us that's not generally known to the public that related to the search for Susan Powell’s body,” said Karra Porter, co-founder with the Utah Cold Case Coalition.

Porter said they follow every lead until it's no longer credible.

“If there is a possibility that there was a mine search that wasn't able to be done or was only partially done, we think it's worth doing,” she said.
