My name is Taylor Tabarez and I am the founder of a Non-Profit Organization called \"Safety Is Sexy\". Safety Is Sexy, registered in October 2011 was created first and foremost to raise awareness of the dangers of drinking and driving and being unsafe when out having a good time. By having representatives promote through networking and at events, clubs, bars and anywhere that our cause can draw in a crowd to support these issues we believe that we can help others by reminding them to be safe and responsible. SIS does not intend to limit the company to only these issues. Safe sex, seat belt safety, bike safety, and other causes will also be supported. Here is our website: www.sisawareness.org
My Story:
March 2009, right after I turned 18 I was arrested for a DUI and a possession charge. My whole life from that moment changed drastically and my heart shattered. I had made a huge mistake when I was out partying not even thinking of the consequences.
This made a huge impact on my life and for 3 years I spent thousands on fines, fees, an interlock device, and was on probation. Towards the end of my probation I was inspired to start a campaign against drinking and driving and wanted to promote safe partying. I was inspired to take the good from the bad and make a difference. This then Lead to the creation of \"Safety Is Sexy\". I have hosted events at local shows, clubs, bars and promoted the cause through social media and the response has been amazing.
Mission :
Our mission is simple; we hope to confront the problem of drunk driving and other safety concerns by creating awareness of the many consequences related to drunk driving and other issues. In our efforts we hope not only to create awareness but also provide simple and accessible alternatives to driving under the influence. SIS is here to be a reminder to everyone that safety, is in fact sexy.
We believe our success in this campaign will come from our ability to connect with people of similar age, as well as those of younger and older ages. We are aware of the many drunk driving campaigns being advertised. However, we feel that the majority of them aren\'t reaching out to individuals in a manner that will inspire them to get involved and spread the word. We plan to accomplish this by hosting events and using products such as shirts, lanyards, bracelets and other items to be \"reminders\" when worn to inspire others to be safe. You can see what we currently have to offer on the SIS website.
The reason I am reaching out to you is to ask for your help. SIS runs entirely off donations and I have used the few donations we have received to provide products that promote the cause, maintain a website and anything else needed for SIS. My goal is to be able to fund SIS, provide cab vouchers for individuals, donate to similar causes, and anything else SIS can provide to ensure safety. I have many other goals for the organization but I have been limited in the beginning process. I would like for SIS to succeed and inspire anyone it can so I am asking for help. Whether it be donations, services, or advice, anything and everything helps. I am hoping to make 2013 a successful year.
If you can help my cause in any way please contact me and I can answer questions and give you any information you will need. You can email me or call. I would also like to see what I can do about getting a moment on your show to talk about SIS or if someone there is willing to do so. Please let me know thank you.
Thank you,
Taylor Tabarez
