This wish is for an officer that we dispatch for. His name is Matt and he was injured last winter in a tragic accident. He was heading back to his police cruiser when a truck lost control on the slick road and pinned him between the cruiser and the truck leaving him with severe back injuries. He is on workmans compensation which means he only get 75% of his wages, which hasn't been cutting it. He has had to sell everthing that he owns in order to put food on the table and keep up with the medical bills. He has had to have a few back surgeries, with another one coming up soon, along with physical therapy, all while caring for a very supportive wife and 4 children all under the age of 7. All the officers and dispatchers care for him and want him not to have to worry about how he is going to give his family a good Christmas. If you could help us with that we would be very appreciative.

A detective I have worked with since 1991, Rick Dukatz, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer that has spread to his liver, lungs and bone marrow. Rick's doctors believe his cancer is due to his work in narcotics and all the meth labs he's busted since there is no history of cancer in his family for the past 100 years. Rick has enormous medical bills, as you can imagine. Rick has a wife, five children and one grandchild. He may not make it to Christmas unless there is a miracle. I think they need someone to do their Christmas shopping for them as well as the money to buy gifts. These are really wonderful people - Rick has probably saved many lives doing what he did. He is one of the best people I know. Thank you!

Nine year old Adrianna has never know her father. His choice was to never acknowledge he had a daughter. Her mother Trina has been her sole provider for Adrianna’s entire life! Trina has been employed by the Utah Highway Patrol in our Headquarters front office for over 3 years now and has come to be loved and appreciated by everyone there. Trina is quiet, but always hard working, and quick to greet everyone with a smile. She is a pleasure to her co-workers and the public she serves.
This year and the economic downturn have been especially hard on Trina and therefore Adrianna. Trina would never ask for assistance but did confide in co-workers that this year there would be NO Christmas for Adrianna. She could pay the bills, but there would be nothing left to provide Christmas for Adrianna. Several of her co-workers, in appreciation of Trina, independently sought ways to provide something for young Adrianna.
I would like to see what you guys could do to just help out this wonderful girl and her daughter. If you can please spread the Christmas spirit with these two young girls.
Thanks for all that you guys do to help out all of these struggling families!

Kris Maucher Kris is the single mother of twin sons that are now 15 yrs old. One of the boys, Eric, has the most severe form of cerebal palsy and is as helpless as a new born baby but in the body of a full grown 15 year old. Kris is just under 5 ft tall and weighs about 100 pounds yet still continue to lift and care for Eric by herself. If this is not amazing enough, earlier this year, Kris was diagnosed with MS, her disease is progressing rapidly and she is getting weaker as the days go on. She is no longer able to work and I have no idea how in the world she still cares for Erics' physical demands. Just to make sure this girl has had enough thrown onto her shoulders, her mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer about a month ago. She was given 6 months to 6 years to live but, she passed away last week. Kris's mother was the hope for Kris's future, she would help take care of the boys as Kris's own body is failing, no she has no idea what to do. Kris does not have money for the boys Christmas, I don't even know how she pays the house and utilities. Her van is broke down and about to be reposeesed. She desperately needs help, she has to have a vehicle that is equiped to handle Eric's wheelchair. She needs help with utilities, clothing and food. I don't know what the future holds for her and her boys but I do know that she is the most amazing little lady in the world and any help at all would be so appreciated! I had planned on providing her the funds to get the boys Christmas gifts and was buying her groceries as my gift to her but I lost my job due to a layoff last month and won't even be able to do Christmas at my own home. Please, anything at all would help Kris so much. She deserves some happiness and joy to help balance her stressful life. Thank you for listening about my friends plight. Merry Christmas and God Bless.

My neighbor lost her husband in a motorcycle accident last summer when he hit a deer while driving home from his job at the university late at night. He was wearing a helmet, but it wasn't enough. He left behind a wife and 6 young children. I'm sure they need all the help they can get. I can't imagine what their first christmas without their
father will be like. I can only hope it will be a happy one. Somehow.

I wish that someone could help my cousin out. He lost his wife to lupus earlier this year and he has 5 children, one of which is a girl of whom they adopted from her cousin coming from a drug abused home. His children ages range from 12-7 4 boys and one girl. We have had a lot of lost in our family this year, my cousin who was 16 years old was killed by a reckless driver as well. Which took a tole on my cousin. We as a family try to do as much as we can for him and his family but it would be nice if someone could help us do more for him. We just want him to know that we care about him and love him and are willing to help out as much as we can. Thank you!

I wish that a family very close to my heart could have the Christmas they need and deserve. Recently, this familys husband and father passed away (Nov. 19) with ALS (Lou Gehrigs disease)at age 48. This man had a heart of gold and lived each day to the fullest even though he was suffering from the most horrid disease and was a prisoner in his own body. Since he died very close to the holidays, the holidays will not be the same this year especially after the costs of his medical bills and funeral. If you were able to help this family out in any way it would be amazing and well deserved! This family has a 12 year old and a 14 year old with Autism. The mother is also a survivor of breast cancer. This family has dealt with so many health issues that no family should ever have to deal with in their lifetime. They are very dedicated to the community and always put their needs last. This family needs a Christmas to remember even in the absensce of their father. Please help them!!

Dear Morning Zoo, On Memorial Day weekend at the Little Sahara Sand Dunes the guys had gone on a ride. We knew something was wrong when we saw a few of the guys walking towards camp, and the look on their face said it all. Steve had been in a very bad accident, he was life-flighted to University Hospital with severe head injuries. Although we knew he was hurt we never thought it would be as serious as it was, because we all knew how strong Steve was and for some reason thought that however bad it was we knew he would fight through it. Later on that night we heard that Steve had passed away. The doctors tried their hardest but there was nothing that they could do. All we could think about was his beautiful wife Kari and their one year old daughter Jade and how they were going to get through this. Steve has left behind a family of heartbroken friends and people who dearly miss him, and as Christmas time comes around we would love for Kari and Jade to have the Christmas that they deserve while struggling to get through their first Christmas without him. Kari’s strength through this hard time has been amazing and as she said at Steve’s funeral, she has gotten her strength through Steve. Even though she is so strong I know this will be hard for her this Christmas to not only not have Steve there with them, but because he did not have life insurance when he passed away so she will not be able to have the Christmas that she deserves. I know that Jade is still to young to understand and to her Christmas will be great, but we want Kari to have this Christmas be special for her too. We are hoping that if there is anything that you can do to help her this Christmas it would be greatly appreciated. As Kari has said in her recent email to her friends “Please remember that something could happen to the people you love at any moment so don’t sweat the small stuff and appreciate who and what you have. Let them know you love them as often as possible.” So we want you to know Kari that we love you very much and we hope that even though Steve is not with you this year that you still have a Great Christmas. Love your friends Aimee and Larsen

I am submitting a wish for KIM she has been through more than anyone would want to go through in thier lifetime she is recently split for a 20 yr marriage and she was left with her two teenage kids with no money and barley making $9.00 I have been trying to help the best that I can financially and doing whatever I can for her. I recently helped her get her gas on in her house her husband disconnected the services so her and the children had no hot water for three months I really feel that she is a respectable trustworthy responsible person she is working full time and any extra time that she can and she can't even provide food on the table sometimes so she has expressed to me in tears that she is not looking forward to christmas because she does not want to let her kids down because she can not provide a sufficient christmas i really think is't something they all deserve because of the fact they have had to live with out so many things in life the past couple of months something like this would just brighten thier day. Any help with anything I think would be great they would really really really appreciate anything that came thier way and I really think they are a deserving family. they don't ever ask for much and are appreciative for just getting any food it's a sad situation and I would like for them to see a good christmas.

Dear ZHT Secret Santa’s, I would like to submit a Secret Santa wish for the Gerrard family. In Oct of 2008 they were told that their 11 year old daughter has Brain Cancer. They were told that because of were the tumor is located that they would not be able to operate, she is under going Radiation therapy and they make numerous trip from Layton to Salt Lake for this, but the outcome for this type of cancer and where it is located is not a good one. Her Radiation will be done next week and that is pretty much all they can do, she has lost all of her hair and she will be going back to have an MRI done in 6 months to see if the tumor has shrunk at all. The Dr’s do not give a good outcome for this 11 year old little girl. Both parents work, the mother works through a Temp Agency and is not able to attend Kendra’s Dr appt due to lack of sick leave. The father or grandmother are the ones who take Kendra down for her Radiation Treatments. This family has 4 children and struggle as is to make ends meet and with the mounting medical bills and days off work it is going to be a struggle to provide Christmas to their kids which actually could be Kendra’s last. The children are Kendra age 11, Angie age 9, Ryan age 5 and Raymond will be 1 in Feb. Anything to help this family would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for doing this for family’s in need.

There is a wonderful women name Karla who just lost her husband to an unexpected finding of cancer. He was only in the hospital for 12 days before he past away. They have five children and he was the provider for the family since Karla stayed home with Yoselin who has some learing disablities due to a tumor on her brain stem. The kids range from ages 14 to 2. Anything that could help them would be appreciated since they have had to deal with this loss so unexpectedly right before the holidays and now are struggling to make ends meet.
