Tristan is a 10 year old boy that was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form or bone cancer called Ewing Sarcoma in his heel bone on March 1 2012. After a few visits to Er’s and Instacare for unexplained pain and limping during football games and practices. We were told it was a growing pain. In February his ankle swelled and we went to his pediatrician only to be told to go to Primary Childrens for more tests. Two days later we were dealing with cancer head-on! His treatment is very aggressive Chemotherapy mainly in the hospital inpatient. This will consist of 6 rounds which is 12 weeks of Chemo, then surgery. In Tristan’s case he will be required to have a below the knee leg amputation on July 5th. After Surgery he will continue to have Chemotherapy for 11 more rounds about 22 weeks. At which time we home to go in to remission .Prognosis is good if they are able to get all the cancer with this plan.
